Protesting war is like protesting forest fires. It is an empty gesture. What we ought to be doing is focus on preventing ‘war’ in the same way we approach preventing forest fires. After all, I do not know anybody who is ‘for’ war any more we than we are ‘for’ forest fires. The protest against war suggests there is a group somewhere against peace? Quite ridiculous really! If we wish our efforts to be more than symbolic then we need to act when and where it counts.Continue Reading
Behind the Skeptic is a Disease
Do not be intimidated by the skeptic, even though social media seems to favour cynics. Though abundant, even amongst Christians, their negativity is a losing cause. Still, the presence of this kind of skepticism is surprising. One cannot post a promise without some naysayer making a ‘courageous’ stand in defence of unbelief. They appear oblivious to the obvious fact that skepticism is not compatible with love! Love will always err on the side of optimism rather than cynicism.
Love is the source of trust and respect
One of the most important characteristics of love is the ability to believe others as better than ourselves (Phi 2:3). If we can do this, we may find it is most significant element to creating new and lasting relationships. But what does that mean? We must start by giving others the courtesy of a clean slate.Continue Reading
The Obvious Secret Often Missed
“God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.” (James 6:4)
For the Christian this is one of the most well-known secrets to success. We all know the passage, yet have we really considered it in light of not having enough grace? When there is a lack of grace in our lives the reason is clear. We simply need more humility!
The Homecoming breakthrough Report (July 13-17, 2016)
There are profound elements in the breakthrough unfolding before us in these days in Hong Kong. Like any treasure, it is locked and hidden from those who might trample it underfoot. Even now it opens. In the Hong Kong Homecoming Gathering, we witnessed the unmistakable evidence of spiritual movement. It foreshadows a ‘breakthrough sound’ emerging on a baffling scale.
God Turns the Worst into the Best
Christians are the worst! You have probably heard this at some time and maybe even said it yourself. On some levels it might even be true, but that is the beauty of it. Defending ourselves is not the point. Instead, imagine winning a Super Bowl with the worst players. That is the heart of God’s plan!
The Dangerous Road for the man who would be King!
It is a dangerous road for the man who would be King. This is the game that is played when men paint themselves as invincible to gain the hearts of the gullible. It is an implausible charade often repeated and almost as often believed. It might be time for a new chapter. Instead of looking for God’s in the form of men, we ought to accept the simplicity of God at work inside of men.
