Is there cultic vain repetition in Church worship? Jesus warned us against it. There certainly seems to be a lot of repetition in today’s music, is this what Jesus meant? If there is ‘vain repetition’ we will never know it unless we define it. So the first question to answer is ‘what is it?’.
Did you know God is the Author of Pain?
God is the author of pain though not necessarily the author of injury. Like the smoke alarm in your home, designed to awaken you with a measure of sonic violence, pain is our friend. It alerts us to peril. In this sense it serves the same purpose as God’s judgments. This is one of the reasons the scripture declares God’s judgments as righteous. They are crafted to awaken us to danger and exist, among other things, for our preservation. As such they are an expression of love!Continue Reading
God has an agenda far more important than our own. Strange cloud formations speak to that fact. Canada it is time to come together in unity for the sake of destiny!
As a group of believers gathered in Edmonton Albert Canada the Lord was speaking through the heavens. These strange cloud formations strangely resemble a canopy covering the city. It was not unusual from the standpoint that other Gatherings have also been accompanied by signs in the heavens. The signs are of God’s promise. It was followed later by a massive double rainbow during a key moment of worship, also alluding to God’s promise.
The double rainbow appeared as well as other strange clouds!
Whatever your conviction concerning what God is doing, clearly His face was smiling this day on Edmonton. We ought to focus the question of what releases this kind of favour. We need to lay hold of the favour. He is declaring a new day for a people willing to ‘walk in the light of His presence’.
I want to release a call to the Church, particularly in Canada, to put aside your opinions and offences. Our nation is facing a critical moment. We are facing important challenges on many fronts including the political sphere. Unity is key! The recent calls to prayer are timely, however, if we do not love and forgive one another our prayers for unity are in vain. Actually we ought to take it a step further and not only forgive, but repent for our offence. Remember, love is not easily offended.
There is promise of God’s presence for Canada and we have yet to fully enter into it. We have touched it but the time has come to walk in it. It is our destiny! Rise up Oh Canada!
Look before you boast…
Peter was a treasure of a man! But like many he took a dim view of what he considered the weakness of others. In so doing he had a tendency to elevate himself. Fortunately God has a way of giving us a greater perspective. At first glance he did not appreciate the danger of the boast but he would soon learn not everything is as it appears.Continue Reading
I cannot accept the popcorn and movie approach to the Kingdom of God being touted by many. You can call it ‘Popcorn Christianity’. The idea of gain without cost is a fantasy. While I fully understand the meaning of faith and the significance of the finished work of Jesus we still have a cross to bear. Advances in the Kingdom of God will not be accomplished with a laisser-faire apathetic posture. Popcorn Christianity embodies the idea that says, ‘seeing as God did it all, I can sit back and enjoy the movie.’Continue Reading
