There is an upgrade on the way. For all those who are weary of the battle and who are faithfully pressing on there is a promise on the horizon. We can be assured of this because God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). But more than that we are entering a critical season of convergence. Furthermore, this upgrade is more than a subtle fix for bugs, it is a System Upgrade!
The kind of upgrade I am talking about is equal to what you might get on you smart phone or your computer. There are updates but then there are generational leaps. Updates are small add-ons to improve efficiencies and fix compatibility problems. A system upgrade carries with it a much broader range of changes. It means adding features or modifications which can revolutionize the appearances and functionality of your hardware. Holy Spirit is bringing this kind of upgrade except it is Spiritual.
Fresh dimensions of the knowledge of God will filter down to the earth and will be made available to many. These will enable us to move, not only at a greater pace, but so as to skillfully navigate in and out of truths whose treasures we thought we had exhausted. The key to appropriate this shift is in our posture.
There are two essential parts to the posture we need to adopt. The first is hunger!
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled!” (Matthew 5:6)
Hunger has to do with a profound desire. It is rooted in the unspoken reality that without food I will die. As such there is a kind of underlying desperation fuelling our pursuit. We must hunger before we will be filled.
The second key is humility. Humility also fuels our pursuit because it knows our limitations. It opens a door to grace without which we cannot clearly see. As we all know, God gives grace to the humble and resists the proud. Without this grace we will be like Jerusalem of Jesus’ day who did not even know they missed the day of their visitation. The upgrade will be apprehended by the hungry and the humble.
It is coming! It will come to those who hunger for it and who know they need it.
